Playing at Reunion

Our family reunion is all about having FUN! And what's more fun than playing games? From boardgames like Bananagrams, Settlers of Catan and Phase 10 to outdoor sports... like Wing-it!(NOTE: When I was first introduced to this game, it was called something a little less PC, but I'm afraid to put words like that on my blog...) If this game is new to you, please check out this site. Basically, you toss a set of golf balls that are glued to a segment of rope towards a PVC ladder 15-20 feet away. I know- nothing says family reunion like whipping golf balls at your relatives! I must admit- I'm pretty terrible at the game, but it's a whole lot of fun...

Beach volleyball is also a favorite pastime at our reunions. Sometimes it's family vs. family, while other times the staffers gets involved. My cousins sure are athletic- check this out:

Square Dancin' at Reunion

Square dancing has never been a part of our family reunion... until this year! The staff at White Birch Lodge hosts events each night, one of which was a Square Dance. I think TT like the outfits more than the dancing...
And while dancing is a lot of fun, it might be even more fun to WATCH! Just ask EMVR and RSV...

More spectators... I'm thinking this is a shot of Aunt SV laughing, which is awesome because she has the BEST laugh!

Here are BVT and TT, enjoying the action on the basketball courts (where all the dancing was taking place).
All the staffers got in on the dancing- in costume and everything! I think the first dance that they did was a conga line, of sorts...
Then it was onto the REAL square dancing (though this looks a little circular to me)...

Lake lovin' at Reunion!

If you're new to this blog, or haven't stopped for a visit in a while, let me give you a brief update- I spent last week with this group of amazing people:
If you couldn't tell by our matching apparel, this is my family. We got together for our bi-annual family reunion, and we spent last week at a resort called White Birch Lodge. This has been a family tradition for as long as I can remember, and I just love it... I get to spend a week catching up, teasing, playing, and enjoying my family who live all over the country.

Our family LOVES lakes! White Birch Lodge is located on Elk Lake, just east of Lake Michigan, and it's a beautiful lake... so I thought I'd share pictures of my family enjoying it! Here is my dad and a few cousins cooling their feet. I must admit- the water was QUITE 'refreshing'!
This is my Uncle B... ever since I was a kid, he's brought some pretty neat water toys to reunion- I think this year it was his kayak.
That's his daughter, my cousin AV... she's a super talented artist!
This is my cousin JPV... he was trying to stay on that board while his sister and my other cousin tried to knock him off.

And here's SV... she's AMAZING with a frisbee!
This is my Aunt JVL- when I was little she used to take me Christmas shopping so the presents I got for my family would be a surprise... then we would go back to her house and wrap them really creatively (she's an artist)... isn't that cool?
This is my Grandpa. He used to live on a lake up north, and he LOVES the water!
This picture cracks me up- it's my cousin BTV. He was showing me how he could stand on one finger in the water... quite a trick, right?

In case you couldn't guess, my family is pretty fun... and they're very used to posing for the camera. DTV and BTV are too funny, lounging on the dock!
The newest addition to our clan, TT, was SUCH a cutie. He was definitely the most photographed member of the family this week- poor little guy! Here he is on his dad's shoulders.
This is my Aunt TMV... she's SO fun!
And her husband, my Uncle TGV. They're the ones responsible for my 'A' wall... and he's my dad's brother... notice the resemblance? When my cousins and I were kids, we sometimes couldn't tell them apart!
Here's my cousin EMVR and her hubby CLR- I asked for a pose, and boy did I get one!
This is my cousin RSV- she's so grown up- I can remember when she was a baby! (Oof- that makes me feel old!)
Here's my cousin BVT with her baby TT. When I was little, she had long hair and I thought it was the most beautiful thing ever... I also remember wanting to sit by her at every meal at reunions when I was a kid!
