I had
to run some errands yesterday, and I took my camera along with me. I thought I'd share some of the places in my neighborhood. First, I needed some more Brussels Sprouts (I'd run out)- so it was off to the Trade Fair.
This is the grocery store I usually shop at.
When you enter, you walk right into the produce/paper goods aisle.
I was getting some odd looks from people, so I didn't take too many pictures... but now do you understand why I miss
Meijer?
After paying for my items at Trade Fair, I headed down
Ditmars to my next destination. Here's a shot of Martha's Bakery- I didn't stop today, which was a test of my will power! This place makes some yummy cupcakes, muffins, and chocolate
mouses! (Have you heard of that? The story I've heard goes like this: when some folks first moved to America, they kept seeing 'chocolate mousse' on restaurant menus. They mistook it for the word 'mouse', and now some bakeries sell chocolate 'mouses'... chocolate mousse shaped like little mice!)
This is a new Thai place that
SFS and I tried the other night- yummy (and spicy)!
If you like New York-style bagels, this place won't let you down... they're the best bagels in my neighborhood!
I took this photo from across the street... if you're a vegetarian or animal lover, you can thank me later. It's one of the butcher shops in town, and much to
SFS' delight, they often hang their freshest 'meat' in the picture window.
This is the best florist in my neighborhood- they're really nice, and let me pick my own flowers out of their coolers!
Fresca Tortilla is
delish- it's not authentic Tex-Mex, but I'll take it!
After a few blocks, I had walked to
Ditmars and 31st Street... it's the last stop on the N/W subway line.
I made a quick pit stop at TD Bank... I don't have an account there, but the have something my bank doesn't...
A penny arcade! Yep, I had a few pounds worth of change to convert to bills.
Then it was off to
CVS. (I know, I lead such a fascinating life!)
I followed the subway a ways...
Until I reached my next destination, which is located almost under the train tracks. Because it's in the 90s this week, I made a quick pit stop...
Diet Coke time! (It's a self-serve soda fountain, so I can add as much ice as I want... heavenly!)
With a cold drink in tow, it was onto Blockbuster...
And
Mandee's. Let me say that the the clothes in this store are about a decade too young for me- but the
accessories are a little more forgiving.
I made it home with a new purse (50% off, baby), and a couple of flicks. I figured I'd pick two movies that complimented each other: serious and
hilarious. That works, right?
I also hit up the 99 Cent store (first referenced
here)... I have a few projects in minds, and I needed to pick up a few items.

I get to run downtown to the M&M Store!
It's true- I needed to pick up a special bag of very tasty, candy-coated chocolate the other day...
So I headed down to Times Square...
And started filling bags with these tasty candies!
I know it's not the most traditional errand in the world... but it sure was fun!
