This is not a paid advertisement!

I spend a lot of time waiting on the subway platform.
It can be a pretty dreary thing. But do you want to know something? I often look forward to waiting for the train!
It's true- because any time I spend waiting for the train is time I can spend reading my kindle!
It's the best present I've received in a long time!
And it makes the time I spend waiting for the subway fly by!!
The days I spend lugging hardcover books in my purse are long behind me- and I couldn't be more thrilled! I never thought I would fall for an electronic gadget, but it's happened... and it's amazing!
Thanks for stopping by- I hope you have a great day!

3 items...

I received a ton of awesome presents for Christmas, thanks to my incredibly generous family and friends! And now that the holidays are over and life is "back to normal", I'm able to recognize how in just a few short days some of those presents are changing my life. Here are three gifts: one that's completely changed my life already, one that's starting to change my life, and one that's going to change my life. So, first up:

1. This has item has completely changed my life: A KINDLE
That's right- this tiny little machine is my newspaper, magazine, and book in one... and it's transformed my commute to work! Now all that time I spend on the subway is spent reading a whole slew of things, yet now my purse is even lighter than it used to be as I schlepped books everywhere I went!

2. This item is starting to change my life: A CAMERA BAG/PURSE
What might look like a lovely purse is actually a camera bag, complete with Velcro dividers...
That holds my camera, extra lenses, and all the normal contents of my purse. I can't tell you how helpful this new purse has been as I traipse all over the city- I just love it!

3. This item is going to change my life: BEATER BLADE
Yes, you're reading the packaging correctly- this paddle for my KitchenAid scrapes the bowl as it mixes. Isn't that a brilliant idea? I can't wait to use this the next time I whip up something sweet in the kitchen.

As you can see, I was totally spoiled over Christmas- and my life couldn't be better because of it!

What awesome gifts did you get over the holidays?

Stay alert and have a safe day!

I spend a fair amount of time on the subway each week.
And while some folks might loath the "ding" as the doors shut, signifying am arduous expedition ahead, I usually look forward to the journey.
Because, let's face it, when else do I get a chance to sit down, grab a cold drink and read a good book?
So I say: bring on the commute!
Now if only I didn't miss my stop so often because I was engrossed in a good story!
(It's true- I've missed getting off the subway at least a dozen times because I've been wrapped up in a book... how nerdy can I get?)

Thank you for visiting- I hope you have a great day!

River deep, mountain high...

I hope you don't mind indulging me while I post a few more nature-themed photos... I promise I'll eventually return to the hustle and bustle of New York City, where my only references to rivers will include the East and Hudson! But for the time being, I'm in the Adirondacks and loving every minute of it!
Yesterday my dad, brother and I spent the afternoon outdoors.
My brother was looking for a new place to fish, so we headed to this majestic bend in the river about 10 miles from our cabin.
It was an absolutely gorgeous spot that required a bit of a hike over rocks...
And a wade through the river. (On a side note, I absolutely love these shoes. I originally bought them to hike the rain forests of Hawaii, but have since discovered that they are one of the most comfortable and practical pair of shoes I've ever owned!)
Eventually my brother found a perfect spot in the river...
And he got to work hooking big ones!
So my dad and I walked a bit further...
And found the perfect spot to read our books!
I don't know about you, but this was the perfect way to spend an afternoon: the rush of the river flowing by, my feet dangling in the refreshing water, and a hilarious summer novel to keep me entertained! (BTW- I was reading Janet Evanovich's Sizzling Sixteen as it was released on Tuesday. I think it's especially funny to read about all the Trenton, NJ antics in such an idyllic location!)
Thank you for visiting- I hope you're having a great day!

Up at the crack of dawn

I don't have to go to work today. And yet, I woke up bright and early a few minutes ago!

You see, I got a new phone- and I'm still learning how to program it! Last night I thought I turned off the alarm... but I guess I didn't!
So now I'm awake, and I don't have to be anywhere until later in the morning! I have miraculously been given an unexpected handful of hours to waste any way I want... and the possibilities are endless! I could catch up on TiVo...
Or dive into a new book I picked up...
Or start a new crochet project with some beautiful yarn my brother bought me...
Or watch the training video for my lighthouse keeper program...
Or paint my nails...
Or I could just go back to bed!
I haven't made my decision quite yet- but with all these choices I can't go wrong! I hope you have a wonderful weekend... see you Monday!
