A frozen treat on a hot day

One of SFS' favorite parts about visiting Niagra is Hibbard's.
As you can imagine, his family made it a priority to get some custard. So, we loaded into a couple of cars and made our way across town.
I went with a traditional choice (some might even say boring): chocolate!
While SFS got a scoop of pumpkin pie atop a scoop of chocolate.
(I was so excited to dig into the custard, I forgot to take a 'before' shot- sorry!)

Now tell me... is this NOT the face of contentment?
Though I'm not usually a fan of custard, this was especially creamy and delicious. If you're ever near the falls, please find time to visit Hibbard's... you won't regret it!

Happy Birthday times TWO!

Don't worry- you aren't seeing double! I know I mentioned that SFS and I traveled to Niagra Falls this weekend to celebrate his grandfather's birthday... but did I mention that his grandfather has a twin brother? Their families went all out to make their 80th birthday really special. Can you believe that centerpiece?
The twins had a construction business in Niagra, hence all the accoutrement in the arrangement. SFS' grandpa's brother's son-in-law is a florist, and created this amazing work.
Don't you just love all the personal touches that they incorporated?

But they didn't stop there- check out the amazing cake:
Isn't that a great way to include the carpentry theme? And the toasted coconut looks JUST like sawdust!
The party was full of amazing food. How about some deviled eggs?
And to my DELIGHT, guess what SFS' family drinks:
That's right- I got to drink all the Vernors I wanted this weekend... I was thrilled! And to top it all off, the party was full of the most amazing food. I could only fit half of the options on my plate:
SFS was really enjoying himself- this is what happens when I try to take a close up of his plate!
As you can probably imagine, the party was a blast! SFS' family throws one heck of a party- here are some pics from the afternoon:
And as if I hadn't eaten enough, there was a table full of desserts. I am officially in love with biscotti now! And do you see those beautiful cookies on the bottom? SFS' grandma cooked every single one!
This picture cracks me up- SFS and I are flanking one of his favorite cousins!
Unfortunately, the party had to come to an end.
With happy hearts (and bloated bellies), we all made our way home from the festivities. I hope SFS' grandpa had as much fun at his birthday party as I did!

Fun at the Falls

Guess where I went this weekend?
I visited Niagra Falls!
SFS invited me to celebrate his grandfather's 80th Birthday with his family this weekend. So on Friday after work, we headed up to Niagra NY for a weekend of fun and food. His grandparent's house is within walking distance of the falls (on the American side), so on Saturday morning we stopped by for a quick visit.
The weather was incredible, and the sun was shining- it was a perfect day for pictures!
Going to the Falls with SFS' family was a great treat. Can you imagine visiting your grandparents, and just popping over to the Falls for a visit? They've probably seen the 'em a million times in their lives!
Check out the pretty rainbow in the spray!
About 13 of SFS' family saw the falls on this particular visit- including his Dad... can you see the resemblance?
I had such a good time taking photos- all the spray made for some 'foggy' pictures!
Awwww- here were are in front of the American side of Niagra Falls!
The water looked so wonderful... too bad a quick dip was out of the question!
So there you have it- Niagra Falls!
I hope you had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend- thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!
