I have a really fun family! So when we saw some cousins at a wedding a couple of weeks ago and they invited us to come visit them, I jumped at the chance. You see, these cousins live in Ohio and I haven't seen some of them in at least 4 years! We were really looking forward to catching up and checking out their town (which I hadn't been to since I was a toddler).
The first evening we were in town, we attended a very special softball game. We were there to cheer for the maroon team, as two of my cousins play on the team
It was a whole family affair, as several other aunts, uncles and cousins came out to support the team. Including this cutie, who served as out family's unofficial score keeper (this shot captured her prancing back from a visit to the "official" score keeper of the game who confirmed that she knew the correct score and my uncle was wrong).
But back to the game. While I don't know much about softball, I can tell you this:
My cousins are really good! I was so impressed at what they could do- and they haven't been playing that long!
I was having lots of fun taking "action shots" of the girls. And when they weren't on the field, I turned my lens to the rest of my family.
And as usual, they provided lots of photo opportunities!
See what I mean?
But eventually the girls were up to bat again...
So I whipped out my camera and took more photos... I love catching them just as they make contact with the softball!
Now, the fun wasn't just confined to the field.
There was lots of chatting...
And laughing going on along the sidelines.
As we watched the girls catch...
And field!
And in just over 90 minutes (gotta love those timed games)...
The maroon team had won the game!
And after the game, the whole family went out for ice cream- which made this little one pretty happy! (That was her response when she found out where we were headed after the game.)
And after tasting the delicious ice cream at the ice cream shop, I totally understood her excitement!
Thanks for joining me on our little trip to Ohio- I hope you have a great day!

Go get 'em, Detroit Tigers!
The other weekend, we enjoyed a family outing to a Detroit Tiger's Game.
I'm pretty clueless when it comes to baseball, but there are several members of our family that enjoy playing and/or watching this great American pastime, especially this little guy!
Before we made our way to the stadium, we stopped for dinner at my brother's apartment. It is located in downtown Detroit, so there's lots to see from his windows!
After a yummy dinner of pizza, we all had fun watching this little fella run around...
And play with his baseball toys...
Before we headed over to Comerica Park!
(In case you haven't guessed, Comerica is the home of the Detroit Tigers!)
The stadium is right downtown, and you can see my brother's office in the background (and yes, he gets to work at Ford Field- how cool, right?)
Before the game started this little guy sat on my lap...
And took some pictures from his perspective!
Quite a budding photographer if I do say so myself!
But eventually the game started...
And I began taking pictures of the ball players.
I will admit- I took a ton of photos...
Because while I may not know what's going on in terms of the game...
I sure like taking pictures of it!
Especially this guy: Magglio Ordóñez. He plays right field, which means he was the closest player to our seats... which means I have a large number of photos of him... which means you'll probably see more of him in this post!
Of course, attending a baseball game isn't all about the sport... I also like the food. My brother demonstrated just how to enjoy a fresh-roasted peanut...
While this cutie enjoyed some ballpark popcorn!
But alas, there was more baseball to be had.
Did you know that baseball games go on for at least 9 innings? I did not... but I learned pretty quickly!
So while the innings rolled on...
I took as many action photos as I could...
And I've decided that the next time I see the Tigers...
I'd like to have a press pass!
All those lucky photographers get to sit close to the field...
And take fancy photos of the slides...
(And slides...)
(And slides...)
And catches...
(And catches...)
(And catches...)
And throws!
And while they have good seats for the action, I bet they don't get shots that are this good of the fountain!
(In case you didn't know, that fountain goes off when the Tigers get a home run and stuff.)
Oh- and in case you haven't figured it out...
This post is incredibly long...
Mostly because I took too many photos.
What else is new...
Right?
(Awkward silence...)
(Because I ran out of commentary before I ran out of pictures...)
(Ooops!)
As you can tell, we had a really good day at the ballpark!
Thanks for stopping by- I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
