A sobering sight

Last night, I started my holiday shopping. SFS met me downtown, and we jostled our way through throngs of bargain shoppers for a couple of hours.
When we exited the store, we were met with a sobering sight.
The World Trade Center is across the street from where we were shopping.
In the evening, after all the neighboring businesses closed for the night, things were pretty quiet.
All you could really see were the giant cranes reaching out of the footprint.
And even though it wasn't visible, I know there's a lot of rebuilding going on behind those fences. And about a year from now, the Memorial Plaza will be finished. If you want to read more about what will be built, both for commercial use and for rememberance, you can click here.
